Breakfast Smoothie Bowl

Ok so here is my introduction to smoothie bowls.  I have to say I had so much fun making this concoction, it was full of all manor of things I am relatively new to.  So it was really a matter of adding a bit of this and a bit of that and tasting, tasting, tasting.  The end result was a really yummy breakfast.  I do however still question why we are putting smoothies in a bowl rather then just drinking them, but hay the rest of the work loves them so I thought I better give one ago.  I really think if smoothie bowls are your thing, then try and start making them at home.  Really it's just a little blending and then a little chopping and slicing depending what you wish to top your smoothie bowl with.  The reason for this is my sister in law the other day told me she pays around $15 for a smoothie bowl in Melbourne!  Wow I said, I guess that's what trendy single people with good incomes are spending their money on.  But if your like me and you have a mortgage, one, two, three or more children and a dog, maybe making these at home is more realistic.  Or alternatively you could quit your job and go into the smoothie making business?  Anyway they are really good for you, so here are a few of the health benefits of making this particular smoothie bowl.

Combined with all the other ingredients I use, I always add spirulina powder.  If you have not used spirulina powder before, it can smell and look quite strong.  You only need a small amount in your smoothies.  Spirulina is extremely easy for the body to digest and has amazing immune boosting, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties.  In addition to this it is also said to improve your mental capacity, fight cancer and help the body to detox.  The health benifits of spirulina go on and on, making it a great addition to any smoothie you whip up.
